 CFKC Discusses Financial and Economic Challenges of COVID-19 in a Webinar

As part of its efforts to promote knowledge-sharing and to highlight government initiatives to mitigate fiscal and economic impact of COVID-19 Pandemic, the MOF-affiliated Communication and Financial Knowledge Center (CFKC) will hold the second Webinar entitled "Enabling the Saudi Economic Ecosystem in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic", on Monday, June 8th, 2020. A number of public and private sector representatives are to participate in the event.
Among participants in the Webinar will be Mr. Abdulaziz Al Rasheed, Assistant Minister of Finance for International Financial Affairs and Macro-Fiscal Policies, Dr. Fahad Al Dossari, Deputy Governor of SAMA for Research and International Affairs, Mr. Ayman Afghani, Deputy Minister of Economy & Planning for Labor Market Affairs and Human Capital Development, Mr. Mohammed Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power and Eng. Ammar Al Khudairy, Chairman of SAMBA Financial Group. The Webinar will be moderated by Dr. Raja Al Marzouki, Associate Professor of Economics at Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies and Vice Chairman of the Saudi Financial Association (SAFA).

The Webinar will discuss a number of public finance and economic challenges faced by Saudi Arabia, and the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the Macro-fiscal framework in the medium term in light of the strengths of the Saudi Public Finance and Economy. The Webinar will also highlight the measures taken to mitigate the fiscal and economic impact of the pandemic and the resilience of the Saudi economy in face of the crisis. It will also cover the gradual reopening of economic activities, available economic and investment opportunities and the effect of the government initiatives in mitigating the fiscal and economic impact of the crisis on individuals, private sector and investors, in addition to the initiatives launched by SAMA to support the banking sector, ensure availability of liquidity and raise its efficiency to serve the private sector in various economic activities.

It is worth noting that the Webinar is part of the CFKC efforts to achieve its objectives of promoting partnership between decision makers in government and private sectors and specialists in the financial and economic fields, with the purpose of spreading knowledge, exchanging views and raising awareness around the current issues. The CFKC also aims at developing interactive platforms to enable stakeholders to share creative ideas and knowledge, as well as following up on financial and economic updates.

This meeting comes within several activities carried out by CFKC, such as issuing daily media reports to follow the developments of the COVID-19, which review the most important economic impacts of the pandemic, and its effects on the main global markets, in addition to the most important local and international news circulating about the virus, and economic developments locally and internationally.
